"Guest OS Information" report fails to run

#1

Hi,

The Dashboard widget for Guest OS report doesn’t show any information. I looked at the Widget under the “Reports” tab. There I can see that the status for the execution is in “Error” state. How do I dig in to this problem? Where can I find any meaningful log that can point me in the right direction because the message I see below doesn’t help me that much!? :slight_smile:

Current Status Error
Last Run Time Wed Sep 17 00:02:39 UTC 2014
Message Widget Generation for 1 groups complete (1 in Error)

@maxton The log file vmdb/log/evm.log should provide more detail about the issue.

This information is collected from SmartScan Analysis, so that will have to complete before that information shows.

ManageIQ vs Cloudforms, dashboard output and reports
#5

I can’t find anything about SmartScan. Tried google it etc without luck.

#6

Fryguy meant SmartState Analysis.

#7

We should just name it fleecing. :wink:

#8

sigh…but docs all call it “SmartState Analysis” as does the UI. But we can translate it into “fleecing” for developer speak.

#9

Ok, thanks. Working on getting Smartstate up and running… I’ll let you figure out future naming :slight_smile:

Installed the VMware lib but still struggling.

I’ve noticed that I have a smartproxy configured in the Cloudforms installation that is setup to connect to a specific host. I have not yet figured out how to get this smartproxy host setup in manageiq.

Hunt continues. Trying to deal with another issue, will post in another topic, that might have an effect on this.,.

So I installed the VMware lib, VMware-vix-disklib-5.1.3-1890807.x86_64 , I’ve verified it’s there…

[root@localhost log]# ldconfig -p | grep vix
libvixDiskLib.so.5 (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/lib/libvixDiskLib.so.5
libvixDiskLib.so (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/lib/libvixDiskLib.so

I’ve enabled Smartproxy and Smartstate in the configuration and finally rebooted the appliance…

I then re-run the Dashboard Widget report “Guest OS Information”. It ends with “Error”. I search for “ERROR” messages in evm.log with the given timestamp and below is what I find.
