IBM PowerVM support?

#1

Hi,

I was wondering if there were any plans to add support for IBM PowerVM with the advent of OpenPOWER. I imagine it would be a big lift but we are really talking about just another Infrastructure provider right?

Thanks!

have you tried oVirt/RHEV - full support of Power8?

#3

@blomquisg can you review this question from @kincl and forward to a SME if necessary.

#4

yes,Ovirt/RHEV can support Power8 .

#5

yes, but that’s not PowerVM, RHEV only supports “regular” KVM on RHEL 7.2 ppc64le hosts

I did not know that oVirt/RHEV supports KVM on PPC, that is good to know. I was talking more about ManageIQ talking directly to PowerVM or PowerKVM.

Thanks for the replies!

Did you ever get an answer to this question? Are there plans for ManageIQ talking to PowerVM, allowing PowerVM to be a provider? I am interested as well.

Thank you,
Michelle

I am not aware of PowerVM plans. ManageIQ has a provider for oVirt/RHV which has datacenter virtualization capabilities for Power
